Scotland's obesity problemObesity among children in Scotland has increased over the past five years, statistics released by NHS Scotland this week show. The problem is worse in older children, although the proportion of children of all ages who are overweight is above the UK expected rate. In the 2004–05 school year, 34 per cent of 12-year-olds were overweight, 19 per cent were obese and 11 per cent were severely obese. |
