Trevor Jones presented with lifetime achievement award

Trevor Jones, FRPharmS, former directorgeneral of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, received the BTG Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural Scrip Awards ceremony in London earlier this month. The award recognises an individual with a consistent history of service above and beyond the call of duty who has made a real difference in the lives of researchers, clinicians and patients.

The best new drug prize was shared by Roche’s Avastin (bevacizumab) and Tarceva (erlotinib). GlaxoSmithKline’s involvement in the global alliance to eliminate lymphatic filiariasis won it the corporate social responsibility award. Novartis was awarded pharmaceutical company of the year, best overall pipeline and licensing deal of the year.
