Oxygen cylinder shortage

Due to a shortage of BOC Medical's portage oxygen cylinder type DD, another type of cylinder has been temporarily added to the Scottish Drug Tariff.

A recent NHS circular states that the addition of cylinder type CD has been backdated to 20 December 2005 and that it will remain in the Tariff until type DD becomes available again.

The only difference between the cylinders is the available flow rates: patients need to be advised about this.
