NI pharmacist chairs British Pharmacopoeia Commission

Northern Ireland pharmacist David Woolfson has been made chairman of the British Pharmacopoeia Commission. Professor Woolfson is professor of pharmaceutics at Queen’s University, Belfast.

Three other pharmacists are among eight further new appointments to the commission. They are: Donald Cairns, associate head, School of Pharmacy, The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen; Liz Williamson, professor of pharmacy, Reading University; and Peter York, professor of pharmaceutics, University of Bradford.

Professor Woolfson is one six pharmacists who have been reappointed to the BP Commission. The others are: Graham Buckton, professor of pharmaceutics, School of Pharmacy, University of London; Thomas Duffy, consultant in quality management; V’Iain Fenton-May, specialist quality controller to hospitals in Wales; Rodney Horder, vice-president, global pharmaceutical R&D quality control, Abbott Laboratories; and Tony Moffat, head, centre for pharmaceutical analysis, School of Pharmacy, University of London.

Correction
Lincoln Tsang was omitted from the list of pharmacists appointed to membership of the British Pharmacopoeia Commission.
