Scots awarded grant to investigate stentResearchers in Scotland have been awarded a grant of £90,000 from the British Heart Foundation to investigate a novel drug-eluting stent to combat in-stent restenosis. Simon Kennedy, a lecturer at the department of physiology and pharmacology at the University of Strathclyde, explained: “We will investigate the problem of why these stents sometimes cause late thrombosis in the coronary artery and whether a novel antioxidant compound coated onto the stent could prevent this complication.” |
