Applications sought for BPC science award

Applications sought for BPC science award Nominations are being sought by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society for the 2006 British Pharmaceutical Conference science award.

The award recognises individuals working in a pharmaceutical or allied discipline (in industry or academia) who have a proven record of independent research, with published work showing outstanding promise.

Applications are invited from scientists worldwide who have worked for 10 years or less (as of 31 March), normally at the postdoctoral level; any periods of leave (such as maternity leave) should be documented.

The successful applicant will receive £750 and a medal and will be invited to present a 30-minute lecture on his or her work at the 2007 BPC. Candidates should send a full curriculum vitae listing their name, age, education, appointments held and their research responsibilities.

Candidates should list all forms of publications already accepted, including patents, consultancy reports and teaching packages. When listing jointly authored work, candidates should give all authors’ names and indicate the candidate’s contribution as principal investigator or co-investigator. Candidates should list research students who have worked for them and their thesis titles and dates, instances of research co-operation, giving details of research grants awarded and the candidate’s role, invitations to speak at conferences in the UK and overseas, lecture or symposium titles, and prizes or awards.

A brief résumé of the candidate’s research (about two pages), indicating discoveries made, with relevant publications attached (no more than 10) should also be sent with the CV.

Applications should be submitted to Lisa Gilbert, Science Programme Manager, Royal Pharmaceutical Society, 1 Lambeth High Street, London SE1 7JN. The closing date is 31 March and the successful applicant will be notified by May.
