Exemption reform examined

Reform of the exemption categories for NHS prescriptions in Scotland could be on the cards.

A Scottish Executive consultation on the subject was due to start on 27 January, after The Journal went to press. It will put forward options for changes to the current exemptions for people with chronic conditions and for young people in full-time education. Also after The Journal’s deadline, the Scottish Parliament was due to debate a Bill proposing the abolition of prescription charges.
