President's CPD message

A letter is being sent to individual members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society urging them to start with continuing professional development (CPD) if they have not already done so.

The letter, in the name of the President, Hemant Patel, says that pharmacy’s Section 60 Order [under the Health Act 1999] will soon go out for consultation and is expected to become law later this year. It will make compliance with the Society’s CPD framework legally binding for practising members and the Society expects to begin calling in CPD records for review early in 2007.

The letter goes on to refer to the array of CPD support material available. It says that a reply paid card for requesting materials is to be sent out with The Journal [although no date has yet been fixed for its distribution].
