NHS stop smoking success rates improve by 23 per cent

Between April and September 2005, 137,894 people using NHS stop smoking services said that they had successfully stopped smoking, compared with 112,250 in the same period in 2004, data issued by the Health and Social Care Information Centre show. Quit dates were set by 264,508 people, 52 per cent of whom were successful. Of those who set a quit date, 82 per cent received nicotine replacement therapy.
