Former administrator of the Society's branch network reaches her 100th birthday
Betty Whiteside, a former administrator of the Pharmaceutical Society's branch network, has reached the age of 100.
Flowers and a card from the Society were delivered to Miss Whiteside’s
home on her birthday, 8 March.
Miss Whiteside originally joined the Society’s staff on a five-month
temporary appointment but stayed for 30 years before retiring in July
1971.
Wishing Miss Whiteside a long and happy retirement, the Society’s
then president, Bill Darling, told the July 1971 Council meeting that
the calibre of her work could only be described as outstanding.
As a mark of their regard for her, many of the Society’s branch
secretaries contributed to a fund to buy her a retirement gift.
