Guide to clinical pharmacokinetics published

Clinical pharmacokineticsA practical guide to the use of pharmacokinetic principles in clinical practice is now available from the Pharmaceutical Press (the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's publishing imprint).

Clinical pharmacokinetics’ aims to bridge the gap between pharmacokinetic concepts and their practical application to individual patients. It includes more than 30 clinical cases with self-study questions and answers.

The book’s contents cover basic pharmacokinetics and therapeutic drug monitoring, followed by chapters on pharmacokinetics in renal impairment, in liver dysfunction and in the elderly. Further chapters look at the pharmacokinetics of specific drugs or drug groups, including aminoglycosides, digoxin, theophylline, lithium, ciclosporin and anticonvulsants.

The 512-page paperback is edited by Soraya Dhillon, foundation professor of pharmacy and head of the school of pharmacy, University of Hertfordshire, and Andrzej Kostrzewski, senior principal pharmacist, Guys, King’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London.
