Guide to clinical pharmacokinetics published
A practical guide to the use of pharmacokinetic principles in clinical practice is now available from the Pharmaceutical Press (the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's publishing imprint).
‘Clinical pharmacokinetics’ aims to bridge the gap between
pharmacokinetic concepts and their practical application to individual
patients. It includes
more than 30 clinical cases with self-study questions and answers.
The book’s contents cover basic pharmacokinetics and therapeutic
drug monitoring, followed by chapters on pharmacokinetics in renal impairment,
in liver dysfunction and in the elderly. Further chapters look at the
pharmacokinetics of specific drugs or drug groups, including aminoglycosides,
digoxin, theophylline, lithium, ciclosporin and anticonvulsants.
The 512-page paperback is edited by Soraya Dhillon, foundation professor
of pharmacy and head of the school of pharmacy, University of Hertfordshire,
and Andrzej Kostrzewski, senior principal pharmacist, Guys, King’s & St
Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London.
The book costs £34.95. UK orders can be placed by telephone (01767
604 971), fax (01767 601 640) or e-mail (rps@turpin-distribution.com) or through the Pharmaceutical Press website.
