SIGN publishes updated guidance on dementia

The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network has published an updated version of its guideline on the management of patients with dementia.

The guideline focuses on early identification of dementia and examines evidence relating to diagnosis, drug treatment and other interventions for behavioural and psychological problems. It endorses the use of donepezil, galantamine and rivastigmine in Alzheimer’s disease but does not consider the cost-effectiveness of these interventions.
