Mailing list hiccup invalidates Council election ballot papers
Ballot papers sent out on 31 March for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's Council election have been declared invalid following the discovery that an administrative error had caused them to be sent to registered pharmacy technicians as well as to pharmacists.
New ballot papers, printed on salmon-coloured paper, have been sent to
all pharmacists this week. Pharmacists who have already voted using the
original grey voting paper will need to vote again. Votes received on
the grey paper will not be counted.
The booklet containing candidates’ biographical details, photographs,
declarations of interests and statements of policy has not been sent
out again. It is, however, being made available through the “About
the Society” section of the Society’s website. In addition, Electoral Reform Services,
which manages the election on behalf of the Society, is able to send
copies of the booklet to individual voters on request (tel 020 8889 9203).
The deadline for receipt of completed voting forms remains noon on 5
May 2006.
The Society says that it regrets the need for the repeat mailing of ballot
papers and apologises for any inconvenience that may have been caused.
This year’s election is to fill five unreserved places for pharmacists
on the Council. There is no election this year to either of the two places
for registered pharmacy technicians.
