Increase MUR uptake or lose other patient-led services

Community pharmacists in Wales need to increase their uptake of advanced services or they risk compromising the development of future patient-led services, Community Pharmacy Wales warns in is latest newsletter.

“Pharmacy really needs to engage with the advanced services [because they are] the first patient-led services available,” David Bethell, CPW’s north Wales regional executive, said. If they do not it will “not reflect well on future development of potential future patient-led services”.

CPW chief executive Peter Haydn Jones commented: “Advanced services give pharmacy the chance to further raise its professional profile. … The low uptake of MURs is also detrimental to securing additional funding for these patient-led services.”
