First class post used for new ballot papers

New ballot papers for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s 2006 Council election were sent out to members on 7 April following the declaration that the papers posted a week earlier were invalid (PJ, 8 April, p425).

The new ballot papers were sent to addresses in Britain by first class post, instead of the normal second class post, and those sent overseas were sent by Priority mailing — the equivalent of first class for overseas mailings. Although all went out on the same day, overseas mailings were sent out first.

The reply envelopes sent with the ballot papers are also marked first class/Priority instead of the usual second class/Priority. Completed ballot papers must reach Electoral Reform Services, which manages the election on behalf of the Society, by noon on 5 May.

Members who have already voted using the original grey voting paper will need to vote again because those votes will not be counted. The new ballot papers are printed on salmon-coloured paper.

The booklet containing information about the candidates has not been sent out again. It can be accessed through the “About the Society” section of the Society’s website. Copies can also be requested from Electoral Reform Services (tel 020 8889 9203).
