Industry code of practice to be discussed
Employees from 50 pharmaceutical companies in the UK are planning to talk to pharmacists and other health care professionals next week about the code of practice that governs their work.
On 25 April, industry representatives will discuss the 2006 edition of
the Association of the British Pharmaceutical
Industry code of practice
when they contact doctors, pharmacists, patient organisations and professional
bodies.
The aim of the day, known as Code day, is to raise awareness of the provisions
of the code and to ensure that people dealing with the pharmaceutical
industry know how to make a complaint.
The initiative is supported by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, the
British Medical Association, the Royal College of Physicians, the Medicines
and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency and NHS Alliance.
Gerald Alexander, vice-president of the Society, said: “Raising
awareness of the ABPI code of practice is welcomed by community, primary
care and hospital pharmacists, as their role in delivering health care
brings them in to close contact with representatives from the pharmaceutical
industry.” |
