Pharmacy contract

All but one pharmacy IT system suppliers meet Scottish eMAS requirements

Only one pharmacy system supplier will not be able to provide the electronic minor ailment service (eMAS) in Scotland by 1 July. However, The Journal understands that few pharmacies in Scotland use the system concerned and that those that do have already made alternative arrangements. This means that all pharmacies should have the capability to provide eMAS from 1 July.

An NHS circular published last week (PDF 70K) says: “Contractors will note that six commercially available systems have completed the testing and two in-house systems are still in the process of being tested. However, one supplier has not started and the Department has been advised that it currently has no plans to provide eMAS functionality by 1 July.”

The six system suppliers that have completed testing are: AAH, Cegedim Rx, Enigma Health, Hadley Healthcare, Positive Solutions Ltd and Rx Systems. Boots and Lloydspharmacy systems are still being tested. The system supplier that will not be providing eMAS is Ascribe (formerly Park Systems).
