New chief executive appointed at SPGC

Harry McQuillan

Harry McQuillan

Harry McQuillan has been appointed the new chief executive officer of the Scottish Pharmaceutical General Council. As chief executive, Mr McQuillan will play a central role in the next stage of the new contract negotiations in Scotland.

Mr McQuillan is currently pharmacy director at NHS 24 and has previous experience in operational, professional and managerial aspects of community pharmacy. He takes up his new position at SPGC on 3 July.

“The new contract provides community pharmacy with an enormously exciting opportunity, not just to consolidate all we already do but, more importantly, to develop further the role of the community pharmacist as a key practitioner member of the primary health care team. I am delighted therefore to be given the opportunity to participate at such an important time,” commented Mr McQuillan. He added that he is looking forward to taking up the new post, and to both representing and promoting community pharmacy in future.
