New ministerial team at the DoH confirmed

Responsibilities for the new ministerial team at the Department of Health have been announced.

In addition to Andy Burnham, Minister of State for Delivery and Quality (PJ, 13 May, p555), the other new appointee at the DoH is Ivan Lewis, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Care Services. Caroline Flint, previously Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Public Health, is promoted to Minister of State for Public Health.

Lord Warner retains broadly similar responsibilities as before, but with the title Minister of State for NHS Reform, rather than NHS Delivery. Rosie Winterton’s responsibilities, too, as Minister of State for Health Services are substantially unchanged. All the ministers, apart from Secretary of State Patricia Hewitt and Lord Warner are responsible for two or three strategic health authorities each.
