Medicines management

Bridges need to be built

From Dr B. P. Curwain, MRPharmS

Miall James (PJ, 13 May, p566) picked up the point that Royal Pharmaceutical Society Council members are not merely there to support particular sectional interests. His observation that some community pharmacists view the activities of primary care trust pharmacists as detrimental to their interests is a sad one. In practice, PCT medicines management pharmacists can be their best ally within a busy PCT, many of whose senior staff have not always seen community pharmacy issues as particularly pressing. Clearly, in some areas, bridges need to be built and, where that is the case, both sides should be making efforts in this direction.
