Scottish Department AGM moves to an evening slot
In a departure from previous years, the annual general meeting of the Scottish Department of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society is this year to be held in the evening.
It will take place at 6.30pm on Tuesday 13 June in the hall of the Society’s
house at 36 York Place, Edinburgh.
The Society’s Scottish Executive has moved the meeting from its
traditional afternoon slot in response to a request from members who
believe that starting later will ensure that more practising pharmacists
can attend.
The agenda for the meeting will include two keynote speakers. The chairman
of the Scottish Pharmaceutical General Council, Frank Owens, will address
the meeting on “A new era for community pharmacy in Scotland” and
David Thomson, who represents Scotland on the Society’s Council,
will present his personal review of the year.
Presenting her annual review as chairman of the Scottish Executive, Rose
Marie Parr will reflect on the path to the Society’s pharmacy boards
and the current discussion on the draft Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians
Order under Section 60 of the Health Act 1999. She will also look at
the possibilities opening up for pharmacy in Scotland in the future.
Dr Parr said: “I am really looking forward to what promises to
be an extremely informative AGM and my first as chairman of the Scottish
Executive. The move towards an evening start will I hope encourage even
more members to attend and take advantage of the excellent networking
opportunities the event offers.”
