In the inaugural Ask About Medicines Week Award, in which there were five categories, pharmacists were members of two winning teams.

In the category “Excellence in reaching diverse populations” Calderstones NHS Trust won with a project about its scheme for Ask About Medicines Week activities for clients with learning disabilities.

Other winners included Claire Dumble, domiciliary pharmacist from the Neath Port Talbot Local Health Board’s project, “Improving medicines management in the domiciliary care setting — medication training for domiciliary care assistants”, which won the category “Excellence in communicating with carers or non-health care professionals working with patients and medicines users.”

Correction
Lindsay Holden and Lynn Bentley from Blackburn with Darwen Primary Care Trust were pictured receiving an Ask About Medicines Award in the category of “Excellence in the use of technology”; this was for a project to help people who are deaf or hard of hearing to access medicines and services through the use of text messaging.
