MeReC launches Rapid Review as electronic publication
A new electronic publication — MeReC Rapid Review — has been published by the National Prescribing Centre. The first issue considers
the ESPRIT study.
Ruth Garnett, assistant director, MeReC Publications, explained: “MeReC
Rapid Reviews are being produced in response to requests for evaluated
information about key new clinical trials or guidance, as soon as they
are published. They offer an appraisal of the evidence, set into the
context of the current evidence base and health care practice, shortly
after new findings are first published.”
The new publication is available on the NPC website.
Pharmacists can register on the site to receive an e-mail alert when
a new MeReC resource is added.
MeReC concludes that the ESPRIT
study (PJ, 27 May, p617) provides additional
evidence to support use of modified-release dipyridamole and low-dose
aspirin by patients who have had a transient ishaemic attack or stroke
and points out that ESPRIT supports National Institute for Health and
Clinical Excellence guidance. |
