Naloxone pilots launched
A two-month pilot scheme to evaluate the role of naloxone in reducing drug-related deaths will start in Lanarkshire next month.
Lanarkshire’s Alcohol and Drugs Action Team, NHS Lanarkshire, the
Scottish Drugs Forum and the Scottish Ambulance Service are working together
to make naloxone available to drug services nurses and high-risk drug
users. The pilot scheme may also make naloxone available to friends and
family of drug users under a patient group direction, yet to be finalised.
A similar six-month pilot scheme in Glasgow was given the go-ahead last
week. |
