Price cuts do not mean value for money, DoH is warned

Department of Health plans to reduce prices for dressings and chemical reagents will not achieve value for money for the NHS, the National Pharmacy Association has warned.

Responding to the proposals to cut the prices paid in primary care (PJ, 13 May, p556), the NPA echoed the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee’s concerns that the changes would affect patient access (PJ, 10 June, p670) and argued that they would undermine the fair funding principle of the community pharmacy contract.
