Poster for Scotland's minor ailment service unveiled

Minor ailment service poster |
Official publicity materials for the minor ailment service in Scotland have been unveiled this week. A poster has been produced by the Scottish Executive Health Department and the Scottish Consumer Council to advertise the new service.
Every community pharmacy in Scotland will receive two copies of the poster
and 250 leaflets about the minor ailment service before 1 July. On this
date, pharmacists can begin to offer consultations through the service.
Pharmacies are only allowed to use the official NHS posters and leaflets
to advertise the service; they must not produce their own advertising.
The NHS will supply leaflets to GP surgeries and libraries.
The directions that provide a temporary legal framework for the new contract
in Scotland have also been published this week. The directions allow
the minor ailment service and the public health service to begin on 1
July as “additional pharmaceutical services”.
It was previously
announced (PJ, 10 June, p671) that the regulations
that will underpin the new contract in future will not be introduced
until the autumn, so the directions are needed to allow the new services
to be provided within the existing legislative framework.
The directions can be accessed via the new contract website
Details about the window displays that form part of the public health
service are expected shortly. |
