Four pharmacists are designated as fellows of the SocietyFour pharmacists have been designated as fellows of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society by the Society's panel of fellows. They are Chris Martin, Elizabeth Read, Mike Smith and Steve Wicks. Chris Martin, who registered in 1981, is a community pharmacist in Haverfordwest and is owner of several pharmacies. He was recently reappointed as chairman of Pembrokeshire Local Health Board. He also chairs the acute service strategy project board for the Mid and West Wales hospital service. He is a non-executive director of Alliance UniChem. He was a founder member of Pembrokeshire Pharmacy Forum and a member of the National Assembly for Wales “task and finish” group on prescribing. Elizabeth Read, who registered in 1980, is head of pharmacy and medicines management for Nestor Primecare Services Ltd and former superintendent pharmacist of BUPA Hospitals. She was responsible for stabilising the annual drug budget across all BUPA UK hospitals and she developed and introduced a multidisciplinary medicines management policy across all 35 hospitals. She is chairman of the Society’s Blackpool and Fylde branch. Mike Smith, from Budleigh Salterton, is a community pharmacist who registered in 1967. He was appointed non-executive chairman of UniChem in 2003. He has served on the board of the National Pharmacy Association and on the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee. He has served as chairman of Devon Local Pharmaceutical Committee and associate board member of South and West Devon Health Authority. Steve Wicks, who registered in 1981, is vice-president of Pfizer Global
R&D and head of pharmaceutical science and technology. He is chairman
of the Society’s Industrial Pharmacists Group and a former member
of the editorial advisory board of The Pharmaceutical Journal. He is
a visiting professor at the University of Bath and the University of
Greenwich and a member of the industrial advisory panel of the University
of Cambridge. He is a Qualified Person in the pharmaceutical industry. |
