Branch committee members awarded certificates for long service

Twelve members of Royal Pharmaceutical Society have recently been awarded certificates recognising long service within their branches.

The certificates, signed by the President, are awarded under a scheme introduced in 2001. Members must have served at least 15 years on a branch or regional committee to be nominated for a certificate by their committee.

Sheila Baldwin received her certificate to mark her service to the Ipswich and Suffolk branch, having recently started her 15th consecutive year on the committee. She has also acted as the branch’s regional representative.

Lucille Crowhurst has served on the Crawley, Horsham and Reigate branch committee since the 1970s. She was chairman for 1986–87 and represented the branch on the regional committee from 1989 to 2003, serving as regional chairman from 1994 to 1996.

Heather Gill, of the Wirral branch, has served as branch treasurer for five years and social secretary for six years and has twice been branch chairman (1994–95 and 2003–04).

Alan Hunter has been a member of the Teesside branch committee since 1962 and treasurer since 1977. He has also served as vice-chairman (1972–73) and chairman (1974–75). He was a member of the Border region committee for several years.

Martin King has been chairman and secretary of the Mid Glamorgan East branch for the past 10 years and actively involved in its running for 17 years.

Margaret Little has been a committee member of the West Metropolitan branch since the late 1970s.

Deborah Peacock has served on the Bolton branch committee since shortly after registering as a pharmacist in 1981. She has been chairman (1986–87 and 1987–88) and vice-chairman (1988–89) and was secretary of the branch for some years in the early 1990s. She was a regional representative for 20 years.

Keith Round has been a member of the Dudley and Stourbridge branch committee for more than 25 years. He has served as chairman (1975–76) and secretary (1972–75 and 1978–94) and was branch representative on the regional committee from 1978 to 2003. He recently took on the position of vice-chairman.

Richard Rutter has been an active member of the Leeds branch and a member of the committee for more than 25 years.

Brenda Stansfield has been a committee member of the West Cumberland branch since 1985 and branch treasurer since 1987.

Alan Trinder was a member of the Oxfordshire branch committee between 1985 and 2002. He served as vice-chairman (1986–88), chairman (1988–91) and secretary (1991–99) and as the branch representative on the Chiltern Region committee.

Brian Woosey, a founder member of the Isle of Man branch, recently retired from the branch committee after many years’ service. He was branch chairman from 1979 to 1991 and careers officer for more than 20 years.


Correction
Brian Woosey of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Isle of Man branch received his long service certificate from Brenda Charlton and not from branch secretary Dot Watterson as stated in our caption.
