Lord Warner endorses BNF-C
The BNF for Children, published by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
and the British Medical Association, has been praised by health minister
Lord Warner in his response to a House of Lords debate this week.
Focusing on an EU Committee report on the proposed EU
Regulation on paediatric medicines, the House of Lords discussed issues
surrounding the pharmaceutical industry, clinical trials and the labelling
of medicines.
Lord Warner said that the introduction of the BNF-C was “probably
one of the most useful things I have done as a minister” and was a
step taken at a national level to increase information on the paediatric
use of medicines for prescribers, carers and patients.
He also said that the Government had taken steps to produce “an
increase in appropriately labelled and formulated medicines for children
. . . [and ensure] that appropriate standards are met for the conduct
of clinical trials of medicines involving children”. |
