Letters to the Editor

Multiples

Pots, kettles, frying pans and fires

From Mr A. Farquhar, MRPharmS

The recent Lloyds “knocking copy” advertisement (PJ, 24 June, pA3) and subsequent PJ apology (PDF 30K) with a Boots statement (PJ, 8 July, p42) rather put me in mind of pots and kettles. Both companies frequently target employed pharmacists (usually at their place of work) with letters and telephone calls suggesting that their working lives will be much enriched in the land of the large multiple. I have written to both companies in the past asking if they think approaching pharmacists at their place of work is acceptable practice, although neither has bothered to reply.

Perhaps an employment move between such large organisations should put me more in mind of frying pans and fires.

Alastair Farquhar
