MUR forms set to change after GPs' feedback
Revised medicines use review (MUR) forms could be available by the autumn, the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee revealed this week.
Speaking at a press briefing following the committee’s July meeting,
Sue Sharpe, PSNC chief executive, said that GPs had found that the format
of the existing form made it difficult for them to use the information
from MURs. The structure of the form has therefore been revised, she
explained, although the core information contained in it remains the
same. She said she hoped that the forms would be available within the
next few months.
Mrs Sharpe also spoke about the PSNC’s plans for the development
of the MUR service. She said that she hoped that the maximum number of
MURs that contractors could claim for would rise to 400 a year in the
future.
In addition, the PSNC announced last week that it will be producing a
new MUR resource pack with a Powerpoint presentation and notes and guidance
for contractors and their staff.
The PSNC has also developed a form for contractors to use when applying
for consent to conduct MURs in a location other than a consultation area
in a pharmacy. In certain circumstances it is necessary to identify the
patient in order to gain consent from the PCT and so the patient’s
consent should be obtained before the application is made. The PSNC also
reveals that some PCTs are requesting enhanced Criminal Records Bureau
checks before consent is given and advises that this cost should be borne
by the PCT.

is also available from the resources
section of the PSNC website. |
