SPC changes

Anzemet
The summary of product characteristics for Anzemet (dolasetron; Amdipharm) has been updated and now says that its use is contraindicated in children and adolescents due to reports of individual cases of sustained supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias, cardiac arrest and myocardial infarction. See SPC.

Dynastat
The summary of product characteristics for Dynastat (parecoxib; Pfizer) has been updated to include a warning that it should not be mixed with any other drug, either during reconstitution or injection, due to a risk of precipitation. It adds that after reconstitution with acceptable solvents, it may be administered by intravenous or intramuscular injection, or into IV lines delivering the following: sodium chloride 0.9 per cent solution; glucose 5 per cent solution; sodium chloride 0.45 per cent and glucose 5 per cent solution; and Ringer-Lactate solution for injection (sodium lactate intravenous infusion). Echovist
The summary of product characteristics for Echovist (galactose; Schering) now states that the product should not be taken by people with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance. See SPC.

Evista
The summary of product characteristics for Evista (raloxifene; Eli Lilly) has been updated to include lactose as an excipient. Additional warnings have been added about the use of Evista in patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Naseptin nasal cream
Supplies of Naseptin (chlorhexidine hydrochloride 0.1 per cent, neomycin sulphate 0.5 per cent; Alliance) nasal cream are now in stock and available from wholesalers following recent difficulties in maintaining supply.

Zyvox
Packs of Zyvox (linezolid; Pfizer) tablets 600mg packaged for the Irish market (batch number 07PJJ) may be released in the UK in the following four to six weeks to avoid a potential out-of-stock situation. These packs will be overlabelled to comply with UK legal requirements and will contain the Irish Zyvox patient information leaflet, which is similar to the UK Zyvox PIL.
