Pharmacy services avoid fallout from serious IT crash

Patient administration IT systems in the North West and the West Midlands of England have been restored following a crash earlier this week.

NHS Connecting for Health said on 1 August that there had been “serious interruption to computer services provided by CSC Alliance in the NHS in the North West and West Midlands of England since 10am on 30 July 2006”. However, a number of the affected trusts contacted by The Journal said that the crash did not seem to have had an impact on pharmacy services.

NHS CfH said that patient administration systems were restored on 1 August and it expected all trusts in the region to have fully operational systems by 3 August.
