Regular consumption of fish is associated with a lower risk of developing age-related macular degeneration, whereas smoking appears to double the risk, and hormone replacement therapy has no effect on the chances of developing this eye condition, data from studies published in Archives of Ophthalmology reveal (2006;124:995, 981 and 988).
