Clinical governance e-learning programme is now easier to access

The clinical governance e-learning programme jointly launched by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and the NHS Clinical Governance Support Team (PJ, 20 May, p606) has been moved to a new web address to make it easier for pharmacists to use.

The online package has moved from www.casu.interwise.com/casu/portal/itcg to www.cg4cp.org.uk. It can now also be placed onto portable media so that pharmacy multiples whose branch staff do not have access to the internet will also be able to use the programme.

The resource aims to provide a basic level introduction to clinical governance and the components within it as they relate to community pharmacy and the new community pharmacy contract.

The online programme consists of seven interactive modules covering cover the range of requirements placed on pharmacy contractors through the new contract in England and Wales, as well as a number of issues highlighted through recent public inquiries such as the Shipman Inquiry.

David Pruce, the Society’s Director of Practice and Quality Improvement, said: “The online clinical governance package has been extremely well received since its launch in May and improvements to the technical side reflect the fact that we expect more and more people to log on as time passes. It is an invaluable resource for community pharmacists who need to keep abreast of important clinical governance issues.”
