Society summary

Library's later opening …

The library at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's London headquarters is to remain open until 7pm on Thursday evenings for a trial period from 1 September.

It is hoped that the later closing time will enable more members to make use of the library’s services out of office hours. If the change benefits a significant proportion of library users, it will become permanent.

The library will be able to take telephone calls on Thursday evenings on its direct dial number (020 7572 2300), which will remain available after the Society's main switchboard number closes for the evening.

The library currently opens on Thursdays from 10am to 5.45pm. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays it opens from 9am to 5pm.

… and longer loan periods

The maximum period for which pharmacists and preregistration trainees can borrow books from the Society's London library has been increased from 12 to 16 weeks.

Books are initially loaned for 28 days and can be renewed for further 28-day periods if not required by another user The library has now increased the number of times a loan can be renewed from twice to three times.

Book loans can be made or renewed in person, by e-mail (library@rpsgb.org), by telephone (020 7572 2300) or through the online library catalogue (olib.rpsgb.org.uk). Further information about the loan service, including the delivery of items to borrowers by post, is available from the library or from the library pages in the Information Resources section of the Society's website.
