Society publishes guide to pharmaceutical care
A new book giving practical guidance on pharmaceutical care is now available to purchase from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's publishing division, the Pharmaceutical Press.
‘Pharmaceutical
care made easy: essentials of medicines management in the individual
patient’ is divided into three sections. The
first sets out the basics of pharmaceutical care, with outlines of the
tools
and techniques required to make the maximum contribution to patient care.
The second section looks at specific therapeutic problems with key learning
objectives, self-assessment questions and answers. It includes problems
in the areas of cardiology, respiratory medicine, endocrinology, rheumatology,
nephrology, gastroenterology, neurology, psychiatry and surgery, as well
as general problems. The third section contains case studies of pharmaceutical
care planning.
The text is illustrated with flow charts of the pharmaceutical care process
and a pull-out pharmaceutical care plan poster. Also included are links
to additional material via an associated website.
The book is aimed at pharmacy undergraduates and preregistration trainees
as well as practising pharmacists. It has been written by pharmacists
John Sexton, Gareth Nickless and Chris Green. Mr Seton and Mr Nickless
are teacher practitioners in Liverpool and Mr Green is director of pharmacy
and medicines management at the Countess of Chester Hospital, Chester.
The 176-page paperback book costs £19.95.
