Anderson Recently, Simon Lee Anderson, MRPharmS, aged 32, of 69 The Pastures, New Bold Green, Travers Entry, St Helens, Merseyside WA9 4ZA. Mr Anderson registered in 1999.

Burns On 21 August, Edwin James Burns, MRPharmS, aged 66, of Flat 4/8, 11 Prince Albert Road, Glasgow G12 9JX. Mr Burns registered in 1961. He was employed by, and subsequently became proprietor of, R. B. MacRae Pharmacy, in Glasgow.

Shaw Recently, John Alexander Magill Shaw, of Winnipeg, Canada. Professor Shaw registered in 1950 and retired from the register in 1999. Tribute)

Tribute

Shaw In a tribute to the late John Alexander Magill Shaw W. WOODSIDE writes: John Shaw graduated in pharmacy from Queen’s University, Belfast, and after completing a master’s degree moved to Scotland to take up a lectureship at the Royal College of Science and Technology, Glasgow. While there, he graduated PhD from Glasgow University. In 1961 he was appointed head of the department of pharmacy at the Belfast College of Technology. In 1967 he moved to Canada to become professor of pharmacy at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, a post he held until retirement in 1992.

Professor Shaw was an accomplished teacher and won several awards, including the University of Manitoba’s Olive Beatrice Stanton award for excellence in teaching. He is survived by his wife Ona, daughter Fiona, and sons Alan and Andrew. Deepest sympathy is extended to Ona and the family.
