Society to consult widely on standards for prescribers

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is shortly to begin a consultation across the profession on professional standards for pharmacist prescribers.

At its meeting on 26 September, the Society’s Law and Ethics Committee considered draft standards, which had already been seen by the Practice Committee. It was agreed that committee members would forward comments to the head of quality improvement, Heidi Wright, to inform the consultation with the profession.

The committee heard that focus group sessions were to take place in London, Edinburgh and Cardiff in October, after which the drafts would be amended before being circulated widely for comment. It was hoped that a final draft would go before the Council at its December meeting.
