New season of inspectors' informal half-day presentations for preregistration trainees

Each year, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society's professional standards inspectors organise a series of informal half-day presentations for preregistration trainees. Their aim is to explain the inspector’s own role and that of the Society’s Fitness to Practise and Legal Affairs Directorate, so that trainees can gain an understanding of the support available to pharmacists from those sources.

The sessions are open to all trainees, whatever field of practice they are in. Trainees may attend the presentation of their own choice. For most sessions there is no need to reserve a place in advance, but reservation will be necessary for the sessions in Bath, Leeds and Newcastle. There is no charge for attending the presentations, but any travel costs will have to be met by the trainee or employer.

The sessions are held at venues across Britain, with a choice of dates in London and Birmingham. This season the presentations will be given at the locations that have proved most popular with preregistration trainees in previous years. No presentations will be given this year at the former venues of Aberdeen, Blackburn, Chelmsford, Maidstone, Nottingham, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Reading, Thornton Heath, Swansea and the Wirral.

Most of this season’s presentations are early in the new year, but one session, in Crewe, has already taken place.

Details of all the presentations are being mailed to preregistration trainees and tutors. The mailing includes information on the precise location of each venue, with details of railway stations and bus routes and advice on road travel and parking. For most venues the mailing also gives a telephone number for further information about the site (eg, access for the disabled). Information about the presentations will also be available from the preregistration trainees page within the preregistration training section of the Society’s website.

Any queries about the presentations should be addressed in writing to the relevant inspector at the Fitness to Practise and Legal Affairs Directorate.
