Guidance on setting up NHS influenza vaccination clinics in community pharmacy has been compiled by the National Pharmacy Association. It describes advantages of pharmacy-based flu vaccination services and sets out practical steps to establishing a service.
Stephen Fishwick, NPA head of NHS service development, said: “Although
planning for flu and the broader ‘Winter pressures’ programme
is likely to be well advanced in many locations, there may still be an
opportunity for community pharmacy to offer its services — perhaps
targeting late presenters. It may also be worth entering into discussions
with commissioners this year in order to put down a marker for 2007–08.” |
