Society warns of pharmacist’s behaviour
Pharmacy employers have been alerted to the behaviour of a pharmacist
who violently attacked a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s
staff after being told that he was to be struck off the Register for
professional misconduct (PJ, 28 October, p503).
The alert, which includes a list of allegations that the Society’s
Statutory Committee found proved against Samuel Edwin Ashby and the committee’s
determination (see p559), describes the attack and warns that Mr Ashby
retains the right to practise as a pharmacist until 25 January 2007.
It adds that if he appeals against the decision, then he would be able
to continue working work until the appeal is determined.
Mandie Lavin, the Society’s director of fitness to practise and
legal affairs, said that the Society had a duty to protect the public
and needed to make sure that the circumstances of the case were disseminated
as widely as possible. She added that whether employers made use of Mr
Ashby’s services in the meantime was up to them. |
