Statins beneficial in heart failure

In a study involving over 24,000 patients with heart failure, those who started statin therapy were less likely to die or be admitted to hospital during the 2.4 years follow-up than patients who did not start statin therapy (JAMA 2006;296:2105). The benefits were seen in patients with or without coronary heart disease and after adjusting for confounding factors.
