Mental Health Bill published
Supervised treatment in the community is included as part of a new Mental
Health Bill, published last week.
The Bill makes six other amendments to the Mental Health Act 1983, including
a simplified definition of mental disorder, a criterion for compulsion,
so that appropriate treatment must be available, and a broadening of
the range of professionals that can take on key roles under the Mental
Health Act.
The Bill is also being used to introduce safeguards for people who lack
capacity to make decisions for themselves or who are deprived of their
liberty. |
