Society summary

New CD section on Society website

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society now has a section on its website dedicated to providing information about Controlled Drugs.

It contains updated information on the current changes to the monitoring and inspection, prescribing, supply and record keeping requirements for Controlled Drugs. It outlines the changes, clarifying whether they are legislative or a matter of good practice, and provides links to further information.

The information is supplemented by links to a dozen documents giving answers to frequently asked questions on different aspects of the changes in Controlled Drug management, plus contact details for raising queries not already covered in the FAQ documents.

The page concludes with links to relevant documents related to the Shipman Inquiry, and particularly to the inquiry’s fourth report, which has led to most of the changes designed to improve the management of Controlled Drugs.

The “Controlled Drugs” section can be accessed through the “Use of medicines” page on the Society’s website.
