CPP proposes a royal college for professional leadership
The College of Pharmacy Practice has proposed the creation of a royal college of pharmacy to absorb the professional leadership functions of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
In its response to the Foster
review of professional regulation (PJ,
22 July, p97), the CPP tells the DoH that one way of clarifying the separation
of the professional leadership and regulatory functions of the Royal
Pharmaceutical Society would be to combine the Society’s professional
leadership role with the current functions of the CPP in a new royal
college of pharmacy.
The CPP also points out that the Society’s regulatory role is exercised
by the independent Statutory Committee and not by the Council. It adds
that if the Society were to retain its leadership role it would not be
acceptable for the Council’s elected professional members to be
replaced by appointed members nor for the Council to have a lay majority. |
