New guidelines on the handling and disposal of waste generated by NHS organisations in England have been produced by the Department of Health (PDF 3.3MB).

The document replaces the 1999 guide “Safe disposal of clinical waste” and takes into account changes in legislation governing the management of waste, its storage, carriage, treatment and disposal, and health and safety.
