New PAGB code introduced

A new code of practice for the design of medicine packs has been introduced by the Proprietary Association of Great Britain. The new code results from the Better Regulation of Over the Counter Medicines Initiative (PDF 120K) and sets standards for strap lines, design and non-statutory information on packaging.

A pilot scheme begins on 2 January next year under which companies will submit proposed pack changes to the PAGB for approval.

Meanwhile, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency has announced that good progress has been made with cutting back red-tape in the regulation of medicines. Kent Woods, MHRA chief executive, said: “This new way of working allows the MHRA to reduce time spent on carrying our administrative processes.”
