Delay to conclusions on reimbursement of branded generics

The Department of Health is deferring its conclusions on the reimbursement of branded generic drugs, following its consultation on the subject, until after it has received the Office of Fair Trading report on the Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Scheme, expected early in 2007.

In a recent Parliamentary written answer health minister Andy Burnham told Laura Moffatt (Lab, Crawley): “Responses to the proposals in this consultation raised a number of complex issues which could not be easily resolved.”
