Rx Systems gets EPS approval for Proscript

Rx Systems has received approval from NHS Connecting for Health for Proscript, its Electronic Prescription Service-compatible system, to be deployed nationally. Seven systems have now been accredited for national roll-out, including five that are commercially available.

Ian Taylor, sales and marketing director at Rx Systems, said that many of the company’s customers have ordered their EPS upgrade and are on track to work with the new system of barcoded prescriptions over the coming months. “As all the main suppliers have achieved deployment authority, CfH is now turning its attention to release 2. We believe, therefore, significant pressure will be put on community pharmacy to upgrade to EPS release 1 thereby securing their existing and ongoing IT allowances,” he added.

A total of 16,957 pharmacists have now registered to use the EPS (as of 8 January 2007).

The compliance status of all pharmacy systems and the number of users registered as pharmacists is updated regularly and is detailed on the NHS CfH website
